About CSD Car Prices & Eligibility

CSD, which stands for Canteen Stores Department, is a retail chain operated by the Indian Armed Forces, providing essential goods to military personnel, ex-servicemen, and their families. One of the major advantages of purchasing a car from CSD is the substantial discount offered. Here is everything you need to know.

Eligibility Criteria (2024-2025)

Pay Level Car Price Limit (Excl. Tax) EV Price Limit Purchasing Rules
Pay Level 1-5 (Sepoy to Havildar) ₹8 Lakhs ₹13 Lakhs First car after 5 years of service. Second car after retirement. Gap of 8 years required.
Pay Level 6-9 (JCOs) ₹10 Lakhs ₹15 Lakhs First car as OR, second on promotion to JCO, third after retirement. Gap of 8 years.
Pay Level 10-18 (Officers) ₹20 Lakhs ₹25 Lakhs Once in Eight Years.

How much discount do we get?

Defense personnel get a 50% rebate on the GST component of the car. If the standard GST is 28%, military personnel only pay 14%. Please note that Cess charges remain unchanged and must be paid in full.
